Manychat was built to automate something very specific: direct-message conversations on social media. If you sell through Instagram or WhatsApp and can’t keep up with replying to DMs, it lets you build automated flows that answer frequent questions, send catalogs, or hand off to a human seller when needed.
Its strength is how easy it is to build these flows without knowing how to code, with a visual drag-and-drop editor. Automating Instagram comments and mentions (for example, automatically replying to anyone who comments “I want it” on a post) is one of the most used features by creators and small brands.
The free plan got fairly limited in the number of active contacts allowed, and paid plans are billed based on that number, not per user. The conversational AI feature is an extra cost on top of the base plan, and on WhatsApp, Meta’s per-conversation charges are added on top.
