Adobe Firefly

Adobe's generative AI suite for creating images, video and content with safer commercial use.

Updated: July 2026

Adobe Firefly is Adobe’s bet on generative AI, built to plug directly into the tools designers already use: Photoshop, Illustrator, Express. Instead of generating an image on a separate site and importing it afterward, Firefly lives inside the normal workflow.

Its biggest differentiator for professional use is commercial indemnification: Adobe offers some legal coverage for content generated with Firefly and used commercially, which matters a lot to agencies and brands that need to minimize copyright risk. That coverage isn’t unlimited, though, and doesn’t cover every case (for example, if you combine the image with third-party logos or faces).

It has a free plan with limited monthly credits, and tiered paid plans that add more credits and access to Photoshop or video features depending on the level. It’s a solid option for anyone already paying for Creative Cloud who wants to add image generation without leaving the Adobe ecosystem.

Pros

  • Output comes with Adobe's commercial indemnification, giving more legal peace of mind
  • Deep integration with Photoshop, Illustrator and Express
  • Intuitive style and structure controls, with a low learning curve

Cons

  • Still struggles to render text correctly inside images
  • Results can feel more generic than other, more artistic tools
